As the title says, What is the status of the Ariel Ambulance?  After the move to Portland and a couple of appearances, the AA has sort of dropped off the radar.  In the meanwhile the PDX Browncoats changed their name to a more generic sci-fi group, and I saw an online comment that a friend of one of the folks responsible for the move referred to that person as the "owner" of the AA.  So, what IS the status of the AA, and for that matter, the AARG?  Who actually "owns" the AA?  Is the AA being stored inside or outside, and are there hopes for long-term preservation?

What are the total assets associated with the AA; both in terms of cash, props, and restoration pieces?  I seem to remember that one of the transport pods (Thule cartop carriers) was found and I'm pretty sure I donated for its purchase.  I also seem to recall some of the interior pieces coming up for sale, and likewise donating toward that purchase.  I would hope that anything bought for the AA is being stored in a way that preserves those pieces.

I guess my final question is, why can't somebody with an interest in the AA hit a big money lottery, and pay to properly restore the AA and preserve and store it in a way that insures its long-term survival?

I would love to know the answer to these questions as well. Was just thinking of it the other day and wondering. Heather On Wed, Oct 9, 2019, 9:38 AM

We bought some interior panels I found at auction, don't know if they're installed yet. The "exhibits" include costumes, and a med kit, and some framed money from Serenity. I imagine it's all together, but a checkup is certainly due. And yeah, a "sugar parent" would sure be nice. :)

Adam or Scott might have info to add?

          Thanks!

Good questions. It’s been a while but as a former donor I’m interested. Still love Firefly / Serenity.

                Hiya,

Shawn you can reach me at pdxbrowncoats@... about transporting the ambulance back to SoCal
I'll get you in touch with Dan, who arranged the storage & has worked on it & we work out requirements (big strong truck) to get it anywhere. I think you may have met when he picked up the ambulance in 2015.
& we'll run it thru Adam, who still runs the AARG, lists & site, etc, keeps track of everything.

I have the costumes & props & the extras we've gotten for it over the last few years (red spinning lights) so you can make a fun display. The last outing was Oct 2017, there's a video link below

Mike was going to post my response from our messaging, that answers some of what he was asking about
