The company is soured to me, as well. It sickens me that such a filth would be introduced. But in today's times, I guess the company figured it would become "Today" and leave the integrity of yesterday in the dirt.

I too am distrubed by this.  I puts a whole different dynamic into the Archi universe -- it puts in a sexual one.  There is no other way to state it.  It is certainly taking Archie away for it's core values as witness what at one time was its missionn statement:
Archie Comics Entertainment, LLC (ArComEnt) produces family entertainment projects based upon the properties of its affiliate, Archie Comic Publications (ACP). Archie Comics Entertainment preserves, builds upon and benefits from the bond of trust that Archie Comic Publications has established with the public for over 60 years. ArComEnt will produce only socially responsible, morally uplifting, wholesome, family oriented entertainment projects.
With the introduction of this character, Archie has moved out of the "family-oriented, socially responsible, morally uplifting, wholesome" zone.
This has soured me to the company.

I'm a Christian and I will opnely state gay people are a sin and should repent. And now, the makers of Archie Comics is bringing the first gay student to Riverdale High.

What is wrong with this world? I know, the devil.

It's a shame that I have to order my Archie comics from Amazon because the news ones aren't worth anything. Back in 1989: $2.50. Now, in the 2010: $3.89. And the new ones are thinner than the orginals and the stories are badly created.
