Buy the resin if you can and do what Apicius suggest.??Store it with?a few (cannot remember how many?) pinenuts and leave to mature. Then use the nuts instead of the resin.? This clearly when the original silphium was becoming extinct.? As too how many its all up to you and taste - I dont use more then 4-5 in a? basic recipe for 4 but then I am not that keen.? In Parthian chicken though I do like it and might use?a?chickpea sized lump of resin.
