      Eulogy:
The family of Jack W. Appleby announces with sorrow his passing on February 2nd. He will be greatly missed as a devoted husband, loving father, and wonderful friend.
Jack was born in Peoria, Ill., on July 31, 1922, to Norman and Jean Appleby. During World War II he joined the Coast Guard serving as an instructor of mechanics in Groton, Connecticut. It was there that he met his wife, Marion, to whom he was married for 63 years. Jack owned the J W Appleby Sheet Metal and Roofing Co. in Waterford, Conn., and later worked as an engineer for Monsanto Corp. in Deep River. After moving to Venice in 1972, Jack continued to indulge his love of construction and design. He built many local homes, owned and operated Suncoast Property Consultants, Inc. providing home inspection services, and served as an expert witness for area attorneys. Jack formed the first Florida chapter of the American Society of Home Inspectors and helped organize the original Kiwanis Home Show which is held every winter at the Venice Community Center. He loved art and design, expressing himself through sculpture and jewelry making and was a member and trustee of the Gulf
Coast Mineral, Fossil and Gem Club. Jack was an avid boater and a former member of the Venice Yacht Club and Useppa Island Club. He will be remembered for his passion and talent as a visionary builder, creative artist and musician, a life-long learner and a true renaissance man.
He is survived by his loving wife Marion; daughters, Jan Moore and husband Bob of Venice, Nancy Appleby and fiance Andrew Palmeri of Alexandria, Va., and Joan Maison and husband Art of Toms River, N.J.; sister Pat Regal of Peoria; seven grandchildren, John Moore of Sarasota, Rob Moore of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Keith Tennent of Venice, James Moore of Palmetto Point, Scott Maison of Lincoln, Va., Meredith Pampell of Hamden, Conn., and Monica Pampell of Washington, D.C.; and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Kimerlee Maison.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kiwanis International Foundation Children's Fund, 3636 Woodview Trace, Indianapolis, IN 46268.
