Layla was found as a stray, becoming weaker each day as she struggled to survive on her own. She was picked up by animal control & brought to the Vance County Animal Shelter in Henderson, NC, on Jan 11, 2013. Layla was found to be dehydrated & was seen by a vet the next day. He determined she was full of worms & badly dehydrated. Fluids were given as well as panacur to deworm, a B12 injection and Petinic which is a vitamin & nutritional supplement to boost her immune system. By Monday the 14th, Layla was so weak she could not even stand up to get to her water bowl. She was rushed to the vet hospital & quickly examined by the medical staff. Layla was found to be loaded with hookworms & whip worms, extremely anemic & acutely dehydrated. She is being treated in intensive care with IV fluids & the necessary care to keep her from deteriorating further. Layla is in very bad condition but we know she is a fighter. We know that her spirit is strong & she desperately wants to live. She knows she finally has the chance at a good life, if she can just win this battle. Please help us fight for her & with her. Donate to get this poor girl on her feet again. Sponsor Layla's care so that she can go on to live a long & happy life, and find the forever family that will give her everything she has always dreamed about. Give what you can to a girl who has everything to live for.
Layla's bill will not be covered by the shelter, she was taken to the hospital by our volunteer group, Ruin Creek Animal Protection Society.  RCAPS is also struggling to pay for several other shelter animals who need care, including Ruby who was hit by a car and needs orthopedic surgery in order to walk again.  The county or shelter does not contribute anything towards these bills.  RCAPS needs donations in order to keep helping the abandoned animals of Vance County.  Please help us, help the animals!
