9693Fw: [AnimalWishList] NEEDED: Cat shampoo and Frontline for Cats DO NOT USE FRONTLINE For Dogs ON CATS
- Nov 27, 2013I do not have the need to be “right” it is what I learned the hard way, and would not wish that on anyone or anyone’s cat. We saved Bee Bee from drowning in a well as a wee kitten, we are a house with dogs. I was not sure of what to do with a cat in the house with dogs, took us some time, but eventually everyone was ‘in love’ with Bee Bee, especially my Golden Cody who is my baby. Cody is allergic to fleas and I used Front line, nothing else, went to Petco, to buy it. We figured if we put some on Bee Bee, there would be no more fleas. Sadly Bee Bee died so quickly we had no time to even get him to a vet, we realized he was sick too late, in the middle of the night, as one of my oldest boys woke me and told me, “there is something wrong with Bee Bee” or getting him to vet would have saved him, this we will never know. We had to take Cody to the vet as Front line was not working and we told him about Bee Bee, and that is how we learned what really killed Bee Bee, and since we have saved 4 other feral kittens who live in my house with Cody. They have all been neutered/spayed with shots. We keep the cats separated as advised by our vet when we treat Cody for fleas, now with what the vet gives me to put on him, not over the counter stuff. We buy the cats their own flea meds made for cats from my vet, 24 hours separated and all is well. I am horrified that there are no warnings issued on flea meds, and there should be someone holding someone responsible for that. Just like there are things humans eat that can cause a dog to be poisoned, you cant use what you use on a dog for a cat.My entire point in even responding is I know for a fact it kills cats, and I am furious there is no warning over the pain it caused my family, watching someone we loved so much die, because we did not know, we were not educated to know, no one ever said, do not use it on the cat.To each it’s own, some people need to learn things the hard way. I am not a rescue, I am just the mommy of Bee Bee. Would you go to Walmart and buy dog treats from china and risk your dog with everything that is known, people are still doing it, because it is cheaper. Supply and demand, just like the puppy mills, people want to shut down.. If someone is trying to warn you how bad that this can be, why would anyone risk their babies. Go ask your vets, buy the cat flea meds for cats. If you can afford the dog front line, you certainly can afford the cat front line.I am sure, no dog flea meds should ever be used on cats, and yes it was front line. I also found out from my vet that while you are treating your dogs, you should keep the cats separated for at least 24 hours. I advise everyone to ask their vet, as people need to be educated or learn like we did watching who we loved so very much die because we just did not know. Buy cat stuff for cats, dog stuff for dogs, simple. Are you sure it was Frontline and not Advantix? According to my vet the dog version of Frontline can be used on cats (as long as it is correctly measured out) because the dog version is less strong than the cat version.Advantix is deadly to cats and should not be used in a home with cats.

MY vet confirmed, to us dog front line kills cats.. When we treat the dogs we do not allow them anywhere near the cats for 24 hours, we keep them separated as that is how dangerous it is, to use dog meds on the cat, they lay next to each other, it can get on the cat. MY vet warned us that also. People need to be informed of how very dangerous this is to do, there is NO warning not to. if you choose to ignore what I am saying.. ASK your vet.Hi Michelle! I was the one who posted that wishlist btw, and I didn't know that Frontline for dogs can be used on cats, that's great to know. The main reason why it cost me a lot before was because I bought each of my cat one dose, so it was hella expensive :( But thanks for the info, now I know I only have to buy one, I thought the formulation and ingredients and stuff were different for cats and for dogs so I never thought I needed only one for all of my cats. If I get lucky enough to get some as a donation, I'll try to find the dosages online or I'll just ask you. Thanks, I really appreciate it..Show message historyOn , Poisoned Honey <manicdoll@...> wrote:Hi Michelle! A large dog revolution will generally be enough for 6 average sized cats. Just some info in case you get some of either donated. If you do and can't find the dosages, let me know, I have them saved somewhere on my computer... Good luck.On Tuesday, November 26, 2013 10:44 PM, Poisoned Honey <manicdoll@...> wrote:yeah well it is. If you can't help, I think it'd be best to keep your thoughts to yourself. I understand you're just trying to warn others by 'saying your thoughts out loud' and I guess that's fine, but this situation is real, and I don't think there's anything wrong with asking for other forms of help. If you read through the message, you'd be able to see that all I was really asking for was cat shampoo and Frontline for cats, but also that if there's anything else, I'm not gonna decline any other offers. I hope you never have to experience having to ask for help from random people. God bless you.On Wednesday, November 27, 2013 11:30 AM, Kim Brooks <willabrooksen@...> wrote:This does not seem real to me.....

I am still heartbroken about it, and I even posted signs around the neighborhood about them being missing but no one has returned them yet Well anyway, I am trying my best to take care of my four remaining cats. I have a lot going on right now and I even resorted to outrageousrequests.com (feel free to check my listing, PLEASE do --> http://www.outrageousrequests.com/listings/1947-01) and I really don't have the money to buy my cats shampoo and Frontline for Cats, so that they don't get infested with ticks.. I'm allergic to tick bites so that would help me a ton, too. If you can't help me through Paypal donations (ANY amount will help me greatly and I will be eternally grateful), and if you have extra stuff there that you can send me instead (shampoo and Frontline for cats, or if you have Frontline for dogs I do know a few poor dogs who could use 'em), I would greatly appreciate it.Oh, did I mention I'm from the Philippines? That's why pet maintenance here is expensive to us, we don't earn that much and stuff cost the same as they do there. Not to mention that it floods ALL THE TIME.. Any help would be appreciated, thank you..
