Walk America season--support humane birth defects charities!

      Please forward widely!

      Dear Animal Activist:

I'm contacting you today to let you know, if you don't already, about
a great new way you and your friends, fellow activists, or members can
support birth defects research that really saves babies. As you might
know, spring is March of Dimes WalkAmerica fundraiser time, and PCRM
is looking this year to turn the tide of community support towards
birth defects charities that don't fund experiments on animals.

PCRM has made the March of Dimes a centerpiece of its campaign to
reform the research funded by health charities, which supports
hundreds of millions of dollars of animal experimentation every year.
In the past, the MOD has funded experiments in which researchers sewed
the eyes shut of newborn kittens and adult cats, brain damaged baby
ferrets, addicted pregnant and newborn animals to drugs and alcohol,
and most recently forced pregnant sheep to endure severe dehydration.

This year, PCRM is offering free lawn/window signs to anyone who might
want to help by publicly showing support for humane birth defects
charities, instead of the March of Dimes, during WalkAmerica time. The
sign, and an order form, can be found on PCRM's web site:
      http://www.pcrm.org/resch/charities/order_md_sign.php.

Please add the announcement and link to your group's web site, e-mail
list, or newsletter, or feel free to forward to anyone who might be
interested in helping spread the word. Questions can be directed to
Kristie Stoick, PCRM's humane charities campaign coordinator, at
      kstoick@... (pcrm.org) or 202.686.2210, ext. 335.

Thanks for your support and compassion.

      Best regards,

      Kristie Stoick
