      IMPORTANT for SOUTH DAKOTA Residents

Please send to everyone you know who lives in South Dakota.

South Dakota: Oppose SB 116, in the Senate Ag Committee, Which Limits
      Cruelty Investigations

      Bill Number: SB 116
Primary Sponsor: Senator Frank Kloucek/Representative David Gassman
      ASPCA Position: Oppose
Action Needed: Please urge Senate Agriculture Committee Members to
oppose SB 116 by taking action at:
      https://secure2.convio.net/aspca/site/Advocacy?pagename=homepage&page=UserAction&id=1863

SB 116 would prevent humane officers or agents approved by the circuit
court and sworn in the same manner as peace officers, from using
necessary force to prevent the inhumane treatment of any animal. It
would limit humane society investigations to only cases involving
dogs, cats, and other household pets. This legislation would require
humane societies to contract with a veterinarian who had been approved
by the Animal Industry Board and consult with the Animal Industry
Board approved veterinarian before impounding any animals.

Preventing cruelty by direct action of law enforcement or officers
approved by a circuit judge needs to continue for all animals in South
      Dakota.

Please take action to urge Senate Agriculture Committee Members to
      oppose SB 116
