Men's Health magazine repeatedly includes abusive comments about cats in its
features. The following are some examples from the past two issues:

"...It's also Hug Your Cat Day. Go ahead. Squeeze Tabby.
      Harder...harder...keep going...no, don't stop yet...." (This was
accompanied by an illustration of a man suffocating a cat.)

"Never eat anything greasy. Your hand may slip off the steering wheel when
you suddenly try to swerve to hit-er...miss a cat crossing the road."

An article called "Why do we like dogs BUT HATE CATS?" listed reasons why
men don't like cats. One reason was "They would bond with the women and
steal all the food. Which is our job."

Please write a letter to the editor of Men's Magazine and explain that
cruelty to animals isn't funny. The magazine's gross generalization that
men don't like cats is unfounded and irresponsible. Extensive studies link
cruelty to animals with violence to humans, and jokes about killing cats not
only encourages abuse but trivializes the serious social implications of
      animal cruelty.

      Please send letters to:

      Men's Health
      menshealth@...

(Remember to include your name, address, and phone number so the editor can
contact you if your letter is chosen to be printed.)
