The actor Jeremy Irons was the guest on Late Night
with Conan OBrien last night (this morning actually).
He was talking about how two years ago he started fox
hunting in Ireland. He made fox hunting sound as if
it were just good, clean fun. He said that they drink
for an hour before the hunt (so actually they go
hunting while drunk) and drink more after the hunt.
He also said that he asked a guy who has been hunting
for 45 years if they ever got a fox, and the guy said
no. I was furious. What liars! And it seemed that
Irons only came on the show to do one thingpromote
his political agenda. He was not promoting any of his
movies or anything else (unless I turned the TV off
too soon because of anger). No wonder Irons plays
these evil characters so wellhe is not playing at
all. Both OBrien and Irons were repeatedly referring
to fox hunting as sport and made no mention of the
controversy surrounding the issue or the fact that
there is a pending ban in England.
I thought Late Night with Conan OBrien was supposed
to be a comedy show, not a political advocacy show.
If OBrien is going to have guests advocating
controversial issues, he should at least have someone
on both sides of the issue. I heard OBrien say a few
times after he did something that did not seem right
that the show will get a lot of letters, so apparently
someone from the show does read the letters. If you
