Group Description

Many do not realize that the Anglo-Saxon and Nordic invaders/settlers in England, circa 800 - 1000 AD, were mutially understandable. Many similarities between these two languages exist, not to mention myths and literature.

This group is intended to be a resource for anyone interested in learning or studying the Anglo-Saxon (Old English) and/or Old Norse languages, including Icelandic. Whether a beginner or pro, you are welcome!

The idea is to share translation tips, techniques, and other language-learning resources, including on-line sources and links, and recommended books and other physical resources.

Motto: Viljinn dregur hálft hlass.

(Willingness is half the battle.)

Posts having anything to do with learning or studying these languages are considered "on topic"..
