Group Description

Dear Parent, Our group consists of families dedicated to teaching or enhancing our childrens' learning while stationed in Guam. The areas of interest will change as the group fluctuates. We always look forward to meeting new folks. Here are some things I have learned:

1. Searching online for free stuff is useful- using a search engine type (ex: free multiplication games online)
2. Several free or low fee sites are useful, too.
3. Homeschool kids can get school work completed in much less time than traditional school kids.
4. Learning basic math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) proficiently is a bonus for those desiring to excel in math.
5. The library, civic centers, museums, and community organizations are usually free and low fee, give the kids a more rounded, deeper knowledge base. AAFB library has a few HS books to help you get started.
6. Take opportunities at home to teach basic skills: cooking (ex. measurements), cleaning (ex. Which chemicals are good for cleaning what and which ones should never be mixed), sewing (even boys should learn basic sewing), gardening (or keeping a potted plant), shopping (ex. how to shop for the family, how to save money). You can't teach all this, all at once, but slowly over a period of time.

To become a member of our group, your family must have base access and be actively homeschooling one or more children.

Happy Homeschooling!
