      AD on MLP's waste opportunism

Alternattiva Demokratika-The Green Party notes that the Malta Labour Party is resorting to cheap populism and scare mongering on the  engineered landfill issue and is not offering any sustainable solutions to the country's waste problem.

The Green Party's spokesperson for Health and the Environment Mark Causon added:

"AD notes that with satisfaction that there is an increasing interest in waste separation and reduction in Maltese Civil Society but is wary of superficial exercises and gimmicks.    The decision of MLP dominated Councils to provide bins on wheels for glass bottles in their locality on the weekends when a feast is being celebrated there is nothing but greenwash. When  in government the MLP even stopped an experiment in waste separation at local level".

The Green Party's spokesperson for Health and the Environment continued by saying that:

"The interest in the environment is always commendable but such initiatives can only be meaningful if integrated within the wider strategy and more long term solutions".

      Mark Casuon insisted that:

"AD will continue to pressure the government to respect the time frames earmarked in the waste management strategy as regards waste separation. AD will continue to work in a responsible way to promote a Resuse, Recycle and Reduce culture in this sector.   AD hopes that the Malta Labour Party will cooperate in educating the public to cooperate in the Progett Skart.  This a progressive exercise which will improve the quality of life of the Maltese and Gozitan people".

AD dwar l-opportunizmu Laburista dwar l-iskart

Alternattiva Demokratika-The Green Party tinnota li l-Partit Laburista qed jaqa' f'populizmu irhis fil-kwistjoni dwar il-landfill u mhux qed joffri soluzjjonijiet sostenibli ghall-problema tal-iskart.

      Il-Kelliem tal-AD ghas-Sahha u l-Ambjent Mark Causon sostna li:

      "L-AD tinnota l-interess dejjem jikber tas-socjeta civili Maltija fil-qasam tas-separazzjoni u t-tnaqqis tal-iskart. Madankollu l-AD mhix impressjonata b' ezercizzji superficjali u bla konsegwenza fit-tul. L-inizjattiva tal-Kunsilli b'maggoranza laburista li permezz taghha se jingabru l-fliexken tal-hgieg fil-festi m'hi xejn ghajr mizura bla ebda konsegwenza reali. L-AD tfakkar li l-MLP fil-gvern kien waqqaf is-separazzjoni tal-iskart".

      Mark Causon zied jghid li:

"Minnkejja li l-AD taqbel ma' kull inizzjattiva favur l-ambjent ikun jaghmel ferm aktar sens jekk inizjattivi bhall dawn ikunu integrati fi hdan strategija wiesgha u komuni ghall-pajjiz kollhu".

      Mark Causon sostna li:

      "L-Alternattiva Demokratika se tibqa' tinsisti biex il-gvern jirrispetta d-dati ghall-introduzzjoni tas-sistema li jinsabu fl-istrategija ghall-immanigjar tal-iskart. Se nibqghu nahdmu b'responsabilita favur it-tkattir tal-kultura tat-tnaqqis, ir-riciklar u l-uzu mill-gdid tal-iskart. AD tittama li l-Partit Laburista jikkoppera fl-edukazzjoni tal-pubbliku biex l-Progett Skart jirnexxi. Dan hu ezercizzju bzonnjuz u progressiv".
