Migration: European Green Party for removal of Dublin regulations and real solidarity with frontier countries such as Malta

The European Green Party meeting in Brussels has approved a resolution which addresses Malta's problems regarding irregular migration.  Prof. Arnold Cassola, Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, said: "The European Greens agree unanimously that 1. The EU needs to finally make a common asylum system a reality; 2. Greater solidarity with EU member states on Eastern and Southern Mediterranean coasts should be shown; 3. The Dublin III regulations should be abolished so that each member state should be able to process claims for asylum regardless of where the aylum seeker has entered the union; 4. The EU has to approve, as a matter of priority, further possibilities of creating legal access to the EU, through VISAs issued in countries outside the EU."

Prof. Cassola concluded: "The Green proposals for the removal of the Dublin regulations would give the possibility for migrants landing in Malta to transfer to other EU countries while their asylum application is being examined.  We are glad to see that even Martin Schultz has now taken up this green proposal. What we need now is a declaration written jointly by the 10 EU socialist Prime Ministers on the one hand and the 14 PPE Prime Ministers on the other, solemnly declaring that they will abolish the Dublin regulations, as the Greens have been proposing for years."

Migrazzjoni: Il-Partit tal-Ħodor Ewropej jisħaq fuq it-tneħħija tar-regolamenti ta' Dublin u fuq solidarjeta` vera ma' pajjiżi fuq il-fruntiera bħal Malta

Il-laqgħa tal-Partit tal-Ħodor Ewropej fi Brussell approvat reżoluzzjoni li tindirizza il-problemi ta' Malta rigward l-immigrazzjoni irregolari. Prof. Arnold Cassola, ic-Chairperson ta' Alternattiva Demokratika, qal: "Il-Ħodor Ewropej jaqblu unanimament li: 1. Jeħtieġ li fl-aħħar l-U.E. taddotta sistema komuni ta' ażil; 2. Hemm bżonn li tintwera solidarjeta` akbar ma' stati membri tal-UE fuq ix-xtut tal-Lvant u tan-nofsinhar fil-Mediterran; 3. Ir-regolamenti ta' Dublin III jeħtieġ li jitneħħew biex b'hekk kull stat membru tal-U.E. jkun jista' jipproċessa talbiet għall-ażil mingħajr ma tagħmel differenza minn fejn l-immigrant ikun daħal fl-Unjoni; 4. Jeħtieġ li l-U.E. tapprova, bħala punt ta' prijorita`, possibiltajiet oħra għall-ħolqien ta' aċċess legali għall-UE, permezz ta' VISAs maħruġa f'pajjiżi barra l-UE."

Il-Prof. Cassola temm jgħid: "Il-proposti tal-Greens għat-tneħħija tar-regolamenti ta' Dublin jagħtu l-possibilita` li immigranti li jinżlu Malta jkunu jistgħu jmorru f'pajjizi oħra tal-UE waqt li l-applikazzjoni tagħhom tkun qegħda tiġi pproċessata. Aħna kuntenti li issa anke Martin Schultz aċċetta din il-proposta. Li hemm bżonn issa hija dikjarazzjoni konġunta miktuba mill-10 Prim Ministri Soċjalisti minn naħa u l-14-il Prim Ministru tal-PPE min-naħa l-oħra, fejn jiddikjaraw solennement li se jneħħu r-regoli ta' Dublin, kif il-Greens ilhom jipproponu għal ħafna snin."
