Mark your calendars for this year's National Night Out event!

      Tuesday, August 5, 2014
      6 pm – 9 pm
      Piney Branch Elementary School
7510 Maple Avenue, Takoma Park, MD

National Night Out, celebrated by police departments across the nation,
is a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National
Association of Town Watch (NATW). The Takoma Park Police Department
will be hosting its own community event in celebration of this campaign.
The department’s goal is to heighten safety and crime prevention
awareness; to support locally-based businesses, groups, and
organizations; and to strengthen relationships among community members
and between the community and local police department.

The event is free, so bring your whole family and invite all your
friends! This year’s event will include informational brochures on
various safety topics and crime prevention, food, games, give-aways, and
more. There will be police vehicles on display, officers and their
horses from the Park Police mounted division, a canine demonstration,
child fingerprint kits & child fingerprinting, a moon bounce, face
painting, food & ice cream… just to name a few! Did I mention that the
      event is FREE?

If you are a locally-based organization and would like to be part of
this year’s event, there is still time to reserve a spot (and there's
NO COST to participate!). Please contact Cpl. Cyndia Conrad by phone:
301-891-7140 or by email: cconrad@... for more
information. This is a great way to promote your organization and build
a relationship with your local police department and with community
      members.
