Dear Takoma Park Residents,
The snow has begun to fall and the City of Takoma Park is preparing to clear roads and keep the City safe through the storm.
Our sanitation crews have collected trash and recycling this morning and will stay on the job until 6 pm doing snow clearing. At 6 pm our Right-of-Way crews will take the night shift of snow clearing operations. Depending on the severity of the storm, we hope to know this evening if Wednesday trash and recycling collection will be impacted.
Snow Emergency Parking Information: In preparation for snow clearing operations, the Maryland State Police has enacted the snow emergency plan. Cars should not park on Maple Avenue, as it is a Snow Emergency Route. To help City crews effectively plow the streets, please park in driveways or parking lots, if possible. For residents on streets with parking allowed on both sides, residents are asked to park on the odd numbered side of the street (since today is an odd numbered day), then park on the even side of the street tomorrow.
To assist with pedestrian safety, property owners are reminded to keep public sidewalks free from snow and ice.
Due to the snow emergency, City of Takoma Park offices are closed today and all day and evening programs canceled including the City Council meeting scheduled for this evening. The Police Department is open for emergency services; administrative offices will be closed.
Please continue to check the Takoma Park website for further information. Thank you.
