      [Airolite_Boats] Digest Number 654

For propelling light hulls, have found interest with the subject of rowing provisions as discussed by Peter and Richard.  Quite some years ago, I constructed outboard oarlock supports for a hull having a 36 inch beam.  These were made as extensions of a seat that also provided a suitable elevation.  The spoon oars used bent plywood for the spoons and open lattice epoxied structure for the shafts, with overall lengths in the eight foot range.  Was very effective for powering a 15 foot canoe in a lake setting.  Seat position was fixed but the concept of a sliding seat could likely be included.  All offered as encouragements for self-constructors. George.
