Thank you, Elizabeth. Do you have any information on how it is
played? I have noticed that the way the string holes are laid out, if
they were strung dirctly from the top to the botom without
intervention, the two outer stinrgs would actually touch the edges of
the hollowed out part of the body. This leads me to conclude one of
two things: either their is one or more bridges that serve to elevate
the stirngs, or the piece is actually not a functional piece but more
a representative piece.
You sound rather definite that it is a "guitar" from Tanzania (Lee's
Tanzanian provenance jives here). Do you know the name of the
instrument? Something i could search on the internet or in reference
