The statue (3rd one) seems quite used, a bit dirty overall, the color
is grayish (not brown like most I have seen), the wood is a bit
damaged at places and there is a fine fissure through the head (wow,
that description reads quite bad in hindsight :)).
The supposed mask I think is a hat with eye/nose/mouth decoration
elements on it.
What struck me immediately was the "used" overall appearance which
makes it look quite special; I liked it alot and bought it.
Of course I have no clue whether it was done on purpose or is in fact
an authentic item. I could not get any more info, but was told that it
was imported by an african couple which, every couple of months, comes
to the shop and leaves some various diverse african art.
Also there is some sand stuck to the lower part of the statue, as if
it was positioned halfway into sandy ground. I am going to clean it up
bit, to remove the dirt and sand. Does anyone have any tips on how to
do that? Anything special I should pay attention to?
I will load up a couple of pictures during the week-end.
