Re: [Adria-Umbria] My first Arts Project - please read and respond if appropriate!
- M'Lord Balidur:Sir Blackarrow of Cyprus is an excellent craftsman in arrow making. In Umbria, the only current member I can think of right now is Lord Charles and you can speak with him at Thunar this week if you so deisre.Either way, I am pleased to hear you wish to participate in the Arts. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.Dame Shahara of Lion's Court

Subject: [Adria-Umbria] My first Arts Project - please read and respond if appropriate!
Date: Sunday, May 31, 2009, 8:22 PMFor those that I had the pleasure of spending the weekend with at Banner War, I say greetings to you! I've spent a great deal of time the last week planning my first arts project and I would greatly prefer to make this a Masterwork Project as listed in the Arts Manual. I have a strong desire to complete all of my initial project myself, but I'd be a fool to turn down all the help and assistance from you I can get.
For those that don't know me well, I like to jump in the deep end of the pool. I've decided to make 6-12 pure period arrows from scratch, a leather period quiver tailored to hold them, and finally a recurve bow. I will be making these 3 separate projects but certain parts of the process will be tailored to fit the overall goal of completing all 3. The deadline for completion I've set on this project will be the completion of the arrows and quiver no later than 24 hours prior to departure for Imperial War in September. I've done roughly 40 hours of research into doing this project so far and I've set my first goal.
I need to find a willow or ash tree from which I can take 3-5 branches of appropriate size, thickness, and straightness. Due to the period accurate seasoning process for the wood I'd like to get the branches this week if at all possible.
In lieu of all of this, I would dearly appreciate anyone in Umbria who has arrow making experience, quiver specific leather working experience, woodworking tools of any kind, a shop where I could smith a metal rod into bodkin arrowheads, and/or possession or knowledge of an appropriate tree I can utilize/pillage contacting me as soon as it's convenient. I'm more than willing to negotiate to rent tools or a shop to get what I need done in the time I need to do it.
Yours in loyalty,
