The Saturday night concert provided by La Sinfonica del Barrio was a
gracious and harmonious event. Conductor Peter Quesada featured
Classical and Latin Music, including music by Mozart, Guevara
(Peruvian), Jenkins ("Pallidio"), and Mexican folk songs (with a
sing-along from the audience!). And with special performances of
Gershwin songs by vocalist Melany Bell, accompanied by Carlos
Velasco on Guitar, Ted Falcon on violin and Michael Andrew on
      Piano.

This concert also included the Instruments for Youth program.
Maestro Peter Quesada, on behalf of the Barrio Symphony, donated
violins to four young students of Bushnell Way Elementary school
this past Tuesday, in an award ceremony filmed by KCET. The
students were selected by their Principal Ms. Leticia Figueroa, and
Ms. Lang their music teacher. The piece by KCET is expected to view
      within the next two weeks.

This performance was sponsored by the Arroyo Seco Neighborhood
Council and the Music Performance Fund, with the Hermon Free
Methodist Church providing their church and refreshments by their
youth group. La Sinfonica del Barrio is a non-profit organization
dedicated to supporting community and school involvement in music,
and supported through the kind gifts of community members. Contact
