Three of the candidates vying to represent District 1 of the Los Angeles City Council in the upcoming March elections will square off on Tuesday, January 15 at Benjamin Franklin High School in Highland Park.

The forum will he held at 6:30 p.m. in the school's cafeteria.

The forum, which is co-sponsored by the the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council (HHPNC), Highland Park Chamber of Commerce and the Highland Park Heritage Trust, is currently set to include candidates Gil Cedillo, José Gardea and Jesse Rosas.

Incumbent Ed Reyes is scheduled to be termed out in March.

Candidates will be asked to answer questions regarding "quality of life" issues in Highland Park, according to the event's flier.

"This will be your opportunity to understand how candidates intend to address the challenges in fostering revitalization and economic growth while protecting the quality of life in Highland Park," the flier states.

HHPNC Vice President Hector Huezo said that the forum is likely to include both predetermined questions posed by a moderator, as well as a question and answer session with the audience.

Council District 1, since being redrawn during 2012's redistricting effort, now comprises the majority of Highland Park, Mount Washington and Cypress Park, as well as parts of Glassell Park.
