      The second event of the Mayor's Small Business Disaster Awareness Series is next week, July 22nd at 10 am for the East and Mid City Regions.

       

      We need your help with getting the word out. Our first event was a success with over 60 attendees!

       

      Please spread the word through your email contacts, Twitter, Facebook,and online calendars.

      WHAT: The City of Los Angeles Emergency Management Department, The Mayor's Office of Homeland Security and Mayor’s Office of Economic Development are providing community stakeholders and small businesses an exciting opportunity to get information on  the role they play in helping the city “Stay open for Business" and the city’s disaster preparedness infrastructure. We will Tour the “Safest Building in the City,” the state-of-the-art Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The building is the city’s point of primary coordination for disaster management.

       

      The best way to describe this facility is that it is like something out of a movie. Our goal is to convene the business community based by regions, but you are welcome to register for any event that best fits your schedule regardless of the region.

      PARKING Free parking is available on the top floor of the Personnel Department Medical Services Division parking lot, between the Emergency Operations Center and the Personnel Department Medical Services Division. The entrance to the parking lot is located at the intersection of East Temple and Garey, immediately after stop signs coming from each direction. Please place your parking pass in visible locations in your vehicle, and use the stairs or elevator in the Southwest corner of the parking lot. Parking Passes will be made available prior to event LOCATION The Emergency Operations Center is within walking distance of City Hall, Union Station, & Metro Gold Line Little Tokyo Station.


      The Dash D Bus can be used from City Hall (pickup every 5 minutes in front of City Hall Public Entrance on Main St.). Exit the Bus at Temple & Garey stop. Regular fare is 50 cents.
      Riding the Metro Gold Line (804) is also convenient. Exit the Train at Little Tokyo/Art District Station. Head north on N. Alameda St toward E. Temple St. and take a sharp right onto E. Temple St.
