I had the same thought -- higher assist/to ratios caused by higher
assist rates in general -- but a different conclusion. It was my
thought that NCAA basketball in general has less ball movement, and
thus less assists.
I have season tickets to both the Sonics and the UW men's basketball
team, so I'm going to see if I can 'score the scorers', so to speak.
If the conjecture that scorers give out more assists in the NBA is
correct, I'd expect to find a smaller differential in assists/fg
between the Huskies and the Sonics from my own scoring than the
reported one. I'll let you guys know what I find. ...
