      much as the choice to rate players along with the four theoretical
      average players at the remaining positions on the court.

      i also should say that it is true that you can also say that
      comparing players using individual player only data also ends up
      being about the relative value of different positions as much as it
      is about the two individuals involved. so the individual player only
      data system is not neutral or perfect. you still have to consider
      position, and the real teammates, and the potentially different roles
      they are asked to play. that is why it is not and never will be cut
      and dried to say a system and the specific values they generate can
      simply and completely prove exactly which player is better or more
      value and by how much. position matters, teammates matter, roles and
      coaching matters. but i guess i wanted to give kevin a response and
      note that his system doesnt really seem to overcome the need to
      consider these factors better than other existing systems. and that
      seemed to be a large part of the goal for introducing the four other
      players into the stat calculations.
