Research Associate in the Archaeology of the Southern Levant

The Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago invites
applications for the position of Research Associate in Ancient
Studies focusing on the Archaeology of the Southern Levant. The
person hired in this capacity must be a specialist in some portion of
the prehistoric period from the eighth to the fourth millennia B.C.
and will be expected to conduct independent field research in Israel.
Applicants should have a substantial record of archaeological
excavation and related publications. This is not a tenure-track
faculty position but rather a full-time research position with the
possibility of occasional undergraduate and graduate-level teaching.
The initial appointment as a Research Associate will be for one year,
beginning in the 2008–2009 academic year, with the expectation that
the appointment will be renewed thereafter on the basis of continued
      excellent performance and publication.

Applications should include CV, names of 3 referees and a statement
of qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin
on March 25th, 2008. Please forward your application and any
      inquiries to:
