      MAJOR DUTIES:

      Assess, monitor, and report on the condition of provincial museums and
      historical and cultural sites.

      Advise and mentor provincial governments on conservation and heritage
      site management, museum development, and administration.

      Assess provincial needs and advise the PRT Team Leader on viable
      projects that the PRT and provincial council could collaboratively
      develop and/or fund to support Iraqi cultural heritage in the
      province.

      Advise and assist in planning, developing, monitoring, evaluating, and
      reporting on conservation projects in the province, working closely
      with the Embassy Public Affairs Section and Cultural Affairs Officer.

      Provide senior level conservation project development and technical
      expertise to the PRT Team Leader, Deputy PRT Team Leader, USAID field
      project officer, Department of State representatives, provincial
      council members, and representatives of international donor
      nations/organizations.

      Advise and engage the provincial council in current national-level
      conservation and cultural heritage plans, programs, policies, and
      priorities.

      JOB SUMMARY:

      The U.S. Department of State is the lead U.S. foreign affairs
      agency. Our mission in Iraq is to support the sovereign, democratic
      rights of the Iraqi people to govern themselves, defend their
      country, and rebuild their economy. The Iraq Reconstruction
      Management Office (IRMO) was established by National Security
      Presidential Directive (NSPD) 36 to facilitate this mission. Join

      This position is located in one of 20 Provincial Reconstruction
      Teams (PRTs) in Iraq. PRTs directly support U.S. policy priorities
      by shaping the provincial and municipal political environment and
      supporting Iraqi moderates, maintaining provincial-level capacity
      development efforts, and facilitating transition of capacity
      development activities from U.S. Government to Iraqi Government
      funds.

      The incumbent serves as a Senior Cultural Heritage Advisor with
      responsibility for providing a broad range of expert technical and
      advisory services in support of the U.S. Mission in Iraq. The
      Senior Cultural Heritage Advisor is a key member of the PRT, working
      actively with the PRT Team Leader and representatives of various US
      agencies and the military, as well as aid organizations and the
      Iraqi government, to build Iraqi capacity and self-reliance.

      THIS POSITION IS BASED IN IRAQ.
