      Fixed-term Lectureship A/B in Egyptology

      Salary scale: £ 21,110 - £32,040 for the period (£25,333–£38,448 full time equivalent)

      Applications are invited for the fixed-term position of Lecturer A/B in Egyptology in the
      Department of Classics, Ancient History and Egyptology, Reference 4484. This is a 10-month
      replacement in the 2007/8 academic year (1 September 2007 – 30 June 2008).

      The successful applicant will be expected to teach six courses over two semesters, at BA and MA
      levels. The course topics are Egyptian Literature, the Amarna Age, cultural contact, and an MA
      module that can be on the candidate’s area of specialisation. There will be one language class
      (Reading Middle Egyptian texts), and the option of a second in Late Egyptian or Coptic. The
      successful candidate will also be expected to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate
      dissertations.

      Applicants should have a completed PhD in Egyptology, and an excellent knowledge of Middle
      Egyptian. Thorough training in the history and civilisation of Ancient Egypt is essential, as well
      as a strong commitment to teaching, together with interpersonal skills and the capacity for team
      work. Teaching experience at the Higher Education level is required.
