In 1873-74 Charles Clermont-Ganneau was surveying tombs on the N-S ridge system of Mt. Scopus in the north, Mt. of Olives in the middle, and the Hill of Evil Counsel/Mt. of Offense to the south. He noted a number of New Testament names inscribed on ossuaries:
Lazurus (Eliezer), Martha, Simon (Shimeon), Nathanel, and Jesus (Yah'shua), Mary (Maria), Joseph (Yosef). He also found the Greek word Iesous written twice on one of the ossuaries (pg. 409).
There was a tomb of Caiphas found in Peace Forest near Talpiot and the Haas Promenade south of the Mt. of Evil Counsel.
