The Department of Archaeology at the University of Sheffield is pleased
to announce the establishment of the Andrew Sherratt Trust:

      http://www.shef.ac.uk/archaeology/andrew-sherratt.html

The fund, in memory of the late Andrew Sherratt, is held in Sheffield,
but is administered by a small group of academics based in the UK and
USA. Once fully established, the goal of the Trust is to distribute
funds annually on the basis of open competition, facilitating
postgraduate students in Old World Prehistory, and from academic
institutions anywhere in the world, to travel or to gain access to
resources that would otherwise be unavailable to them. The Trust has
been established with a core fund, but is currently seeking additional
donations to maximise its impact in Andrew's memory. Please visit the
above web site for further information about how to contribute.

It is anticipated that a first call for applications to the Trust will
come out at some point in the New Year (2007).
