      Dear Colleague,

      The Institute of Ancient Near Eastern Language and Civilizations at
      Peking University and CAENO Foundation have the pleasure of inviting
      everybody interested in early writing systems to a conference in
      Beijing, October 5-7, 2007.

      The conference will address several areas of interest:
      1) Lexical texts
      2) Proto-Cuneiform, proto-Elamite and related schemes
      3) Comparison of cuneiform writing systems to early Chinese scripts

      Six stimulating proposals for papers have been penciled in the
      conference program and are now posted on the website.
