James Henry Breasted: A New Appreciation
      Emily Teeter
Coordinator of Special Exhibits, Research Associate at the Oriental Institute
In recent years, a considerable amount of new research on Breasted has appeared ranging from our exhibit "Pioneers to the Past" and Jeffrey Abt's acclaimed biography to PhD dissertations. This lecture will draw upon these sources and on Breasted's letters in the Oriental Institute Archive to examine some of his sources of inspiration and his motivation for creating one of the world's leading research centers for the ancient Middle East.

Free and open to public thanks to the generous support of Oriental Institute Members. Reception to follow in the Museum.
