James ossuary and talpiot
- I'm somewhat surprised that folks, aside from less than a minyan, still believe that James Ossuary/Talpiot tomb of the Jesus Family foolishness. Rather than belabor the point most of the opinions expressed there were dealt with by colleagues in the past. The geological expertise in fact has been some of the easiest to discard along with BAR declaring that they were able, with their 'limited resources' able to show that the ossuary was cleaned by Golans mother prior to it be moved to her sons house in ca 1990 with a local detergent which cause problems. I called the manufacturer and that detergent which BAR claimed was used to clean the ossuary was not commercially on the mkt until the mid 90's.
Yesterday I tried to pick up a copy of their book on the tomb at second hand book shops here in Jerusalem and there are many, none had it so I went to two of the better known book shops and neither had heard of the book and then was forced to go on line to see if any library in the country had a copy. No library in the entire country had a copy, which sort of speaks volumes about how serious the book was.
In a way we can understand their pain, first the film with James Cameron involved, trashed by Ted Koppel, James Reed calling it Archaeoporn, never to be run again, the British buying it but decided not to run it, now with their new The Jesus Discovery film/book being dropped by National Geographic and book being put off for months and perhaps forever it hurts, so we feel their pain.
For those of you still wishing to believe, despite what scholars have been telling you for years, take a look at the 'track record' of the Talpiot tomb co-author Charles Pellegrino in the following NT Times article and decide for yourselves.
Lastly, for those of you who signed non disclosure agreements and never received a copy and are thus muzzled for a while, I have a copy of the legal agreement direct from Toronto, which I would be willing to share. Contact me off line and I will provide you with a copy. And Jo Anna Wail is back in Jerusalem... to whom we are are in debt for much insider information.
