Kingdom Ceramic Assemblage at North Abydos
      Speaker: Dr. Kei Yamamoto, SSEA
      Friday, September 11, 2009 | 7:00 pm
Room 142, 5 Bancroft Ave, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

This lecture will explore the non-royal cultic activities during the
Middle Kingdom at Abydos, one of the most sacred cities in ancient
Egypt, and how they are manifested archaeologically in the form of
highly specialized pottery vessels. A careful analysis of the ceramic
evidence reveals the site history, nature of private religion, as well
as the socio-economic organization of craft industry.

About The Speaker: Kei Yamamoto received his education in Egyptology at
the University of Pennsylvania (BA) and the University of Toronto (MA,
PhD). He has excavated in Egypt, including Abydos, and has taught for
the University of Toronto and the Royal Ontario Museum. He is currently
      Vice President of the SSEA.
