Rethinking Cities Film and Discussion Series continues tomorrow, Friday, May 13; from 7-9 PM, in the Laurel Room of the Senior Center. Please join us!
Portland: A Sense of Place looks at Portland, one of the most livable cities in the US. The film focuses on the progressive public transportation portfolio that includes train, streetcar, bus and aerial tram.
Community by Design explores the role that design plays in community. Interviews with Berkeley's Richard Register, San Francisco's Peter Calthorpe and Toronto's John van Nostrand give us food for thought. The film looks at Murray's Corner in a Vancouver suburb, the Crossings in Mountain View, and a suburb of Toronto.
Also, the City of Sunnyvale is sponsoring a workshop to gather input for the Lawrence Station Area Plan tonight, Thursday, May 12 from 6:30-8:30 PM in the Library. Supporting more intense land use for jobs and housing at this transit stop would be one way of reducing the pressure to sprawl. Flyer attached.
