This is going out to those of you who still run Atomic 4 engines in
your A35. In late 2004, I bought a rebuilt Atomic 4 from MOYER
MARINE. I had difficulties from the very beginning and, since I live
in WV and my boat was in NJ... and now Baltimore... it has taken me
years to finally get the thing running right. I think I got a 'lemon'
engine from MOYERS (I can't prove it, but that's my perception) but
an outstanding mechanic I found finally got my problems solved.
One of the minor problems I've had, through the years, with this
engine has been excessive 'engine fumes'. It made, being in the
cabin, pretty nausiating, when the engine was running.
My mechanic installed for me an INDIGO AT-4CVS Crankcase Ventiation
System... I took the boat out last weekend (in the heavy rains where
folks were really below deck a lot) and the difference was incredible.
This accessory only cost me around $80 (last year)...but, I whole
heartedly recommend it. A few years back I bought an INDIGO prop, and
while the man there tried very hard to help me make it work, I never
felt like it was big enough to give me the power I wanted when
running the boat in reverse. I'm now using a different prop.
For those of you who have suffered from the engine fumes problem, I
hope this info is useful.
