I took an Alaskan cruise from Seward to Vancouver, BC.  On September 2nd, we crossed the Gulf of Alaska on our way to Glacier Bay NP.  I am a pelagic guide for Oregon's pelagic birding company, The Bird Guide, Inc.   http://thebirdguide.com/pelagics/

Cassin's Auklet 3 "Small, flying potatoes" flew off together. Too small for Parakeet or Rhinoceros Auklets. Stubby bill & round head occluded murrelets.

      Black-footed Albatross 2
      Northern Fulmar 3
Cook's Petrel 5 Tightly-knit group flying together in a lazy flight style uncharacteristic of Pterodroma. They were "floating" and quite buoyant without much flapping, but cruised low to water. Obvious tubenose unlike any gull or tern. Flight style & grouping eliminated shearwaters by gestalt & behavior. Light cap and short bill separated it from Buller's Shearwater.

      Fork-tailed Storm-Petrel 11
