- Sunday night, Aaron Bowman (the Oracle of Spenard) was at the Audubon Bench for high tide and said, "You know, there oughta be a Stilt Sandpiper out here about now."
Tuesday night's high tide drove a bunch of Dowitchers and Godwits in close to the North Tunnel at the Lagoon outlet. Dick Prentki showed up, and there was one bird acting differently and a little higher in the rocks.
He got the scope on it and said, "Hmm, downturned bill, gray--greenish legs." and Voila!
We couldn't pick out any of the other oddballs except Spotted Sandpipers, but that was enough.
