Osprey at Westchester
- An Osprey flew over Westchester Lagoon at Noonish today. Harassed by gulls, he paused for a brief hover and headed south.
Also of interest was a pair of very large Rainbow Trout at the outlet of the lagoon. Definitely paired up for spawning, and in full spawning plumage, but here's the unanswered question: There seemed to be a little wear on fins indicating hatchery fish, but the adipose fins seemed intact which indicates wild fish. It's a mystery.
