Audubon Alaska has a number of fun volunteer citizen science and birding opportunities coming up:

      May 15–25 (register before May
      5)
      Birds in Bogs Citizen Science
      Project
      Volunteers
will help conduct surveys to count Lesser Yellowlegs around Anchorage, as well as Rusty Blackbirds, Olive-sided Flycatchers, and swallows. The main goal of the project is to determine if Lesser Yellowlegs are still using sites where they were documented in the late 1990s. There
will be a training session the week of May 6, then volunteers will survey their site 3 times during May 15–25. That’s it!

      May 19
      International Migratory Bird
      Day at the Alaska Zoo
      Volunteers
will help teach the basics of birding skills to families, including using
      binoculars and spotting scopes.

      June 8
      Potter Marsh Discovery Day
      Volunteers
will help families learn to identify birds at Potter Marsh as well as basic
birding skills, including using spotting scopes and binoculars.

      Contact
Beth Peluso at Audubon Alaska for more information about all of these
