Today about 1 PM there was one male Hooded Merganser at the Eklutna tailrace stream. That is mile 4 the Old Glenn Hwy if anyone is headed up to the hawk watch tomorrow and wants to take a look. Today it was once again down stream almost to the bridge.

The 3 female common mergansers, 1 male ring neck duck and some mallards were still there, plus an adult bald eagle, but no swans.

At Old Matanuska - lots of canada & snow geese, including one dark phase snow goose, swans, & mallards. One immature bald sitting in a tree & hear a red tail (harlans) somewhere over head. This is an even easier side trip for anyone coming from Anchorage direction to the hawk watch. A little less than a mile past the Glenn/Parks interchange on the right , about opposite Matanuska Lake - there is a green road sign.
