mystery birds,south Anchorage
- Greetings, Anchorage Birders-
I just got a call from my friend Pat, who lives near Jewel lake in south Anchorage. She has a flock of birds visiting her Mt. Ash trees. She doesn't know what they are. She describes them as small as redpolls, but with a yellowish hue, like Pine Siskins. Some have rosy breasts. They are eating the berries, even though they are shrivelled and dry. They sound like a cross between the two species, but I know this isn't possible.
I am most curious to find out what they are! Is there anyone who lives near Jewel Lake and Dimond who would be willing to have Pat call you when the birds are there so you could go over and take a look? If so, please call me, Robin @ 354-7265. I will give you Pat's number so you can call her for directions to her home.
