      You are invited to the forty-seventh AIGA Experience Design London meeting.

      Designers and design advocates are typically pushing to get the attention of business, and to be at the core of the product development process. What happens when a business is _started by designers_? In 1999, Chris Pacione, a professor at Carnegie Mellon's School of Design and a successful design strategy consultant, co-founded BodyMedia in Pittsburgh, PA, to develop wearable body monitoring products and services. A key motivation in creating BodyMedia was to practice what he had been preaching: that design could be a key factor in corporate strategy. What happened next?

      Presentation: Designing Business - Chris Pacione, BodyMedia
      -- Chris will talk about the development of BodyMedia's products and services, including the now famous Body Monitoring System Armband (which he will present with a data-streaming demo) and the more recently-developed Web-based BodyBug weight-management system.
      He will also discuss his approach to interaction design for hardware and software, and the future of design and IT in healthcare. More generally, he will reflect on the real-world challenges BodyMedia has faced in using design to lead product and service development.
