African American History month lecture at Hope Plantation, Windsor, NC
- Good Morning All:
First an introduction. I am David Serxner, the Acting Curator at Hope Plantation for the 2012 year. I am looking forward to expanding our programming and outreach across a wider area so we can reach as many historians, history buffs, genealogists, and other interested parties as possible.
To that end, I would like to announce our African American Celebration for Hope Plantation. In conjunction with the Bertie Historic Preservation Society and the North Carolina Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission, Historic Hope Plantation is pleased to present "Bertie County Blacks in the Civil War" on 11 February 2012 in the Rowan Chowan Heritage Center on Hope House Road, Windsor, North Carolina. The program will begin at Noon and features Willie Cooper and Gerald Thomas as our speakers. We will offer tours of the newly reinterpreted 1803 Hope Mansion. There is no admission charge for the event, but we will not turn down donations.
