      WRMA is seeking a Technical Editor to work out of its Rockville, Maryland office.

      This is a deadline-driven position responsible for performing various editorial functions of technical reports, presentations, online content, and other documents for various clients in the human services field including federal agencies, local and state governments, and private foundations. All publications will be edited for content, style, grammar, syntax, and readability. The incumbent will edit and rewrite as needed to ensure quality, clarity, and consistency of work to the specified style.
      Major Responsibilities:
      • Work with project directors in the development of project style guides and writing conventions and ensure that all documents adhere to project-specific style standards.
      • Provide technical editing, writing/rewriting services to multiple projects for a variety or written documents including reports, proposals, website content, and other corporate documents.
      • Work with supervisor and project directors to establish and implement a schedule for completing the editing and rewriting process for each deliverable.
      • Expert knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style 16th edition required. Familiarity with Government Printing Office and American Psychological Association styles considered a plus.
      • Excellent written and oral communications skills and editorial discernment.
      • Able to multitask, adapt to changing schedules, prioritize responsibilities, and work within tight deadlines.
      • Able to form relationships with all levels of personnel.
      • Able to work independently and in a team environment.
      Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
      • Minimum 5 years preparing and editing technical publications.
      • Experience with federal clients preferred.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Acrobat a must, experience with graphics and desktop publishing software a plus.
      • Knowledge of or experience with federal plain writing guidelines and data visualization techniques given special consideration.
