The NetWorks Project at JHU-CCP is seeking quotes from copyeditors (individuals or firms) for copyediting several malaria-specific technical papers, varying from 5-25 pages in length. The papers will be completed from December 2012-October 2013.

NetWorks is a USAID-funded project to prevent malaria by increasing access to long lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) and promoting consistent use of LLINs to prevent malaria. Several malaria-specific technical papers are in development, and NetWorks is seeking a copyeditor to review these papers for clarity, consistency, and proof-reading, with quick turnaround. The copyeditor's review is intended to serve as the final review before manuscripts are circulated externally, so proficiency with the rules of the English language and a high level of attention to detail are imperative. The copyeditor will be expected to submit edits and comments electronically using tracked changes and suggest revisions that can substantially increase the quality and readability of the document. Experience working in global health or malaria is highly desired.

Examples of materials in production include:
      • Brief case studies
      • Journal articles
      • Evaluation and project reports
      • Editorials or advocacy statements
      • White papers or guidelines

All papers will involve malaria, particularly LLINs. Sub-topics include monitoring and evaluation, design of LLIN distribution systems to households, behavior change communication, and policy. Samples of previous Networks products can be found at www.networksmalaria.org.

Potential candidates should submit the following documents for consideration:
      1. Resume
      2. Sample of previous work with tracked changes
      3. Cover letter indicating the following:
o Price per hour, including for expedited work
o Average number of pages completed in an hour
o The range of editing activities performed for other clients
o Types of publications with which the copyeditor has specialized or has significant experience

Applications will be evaluated on adequacy and completeness of the submission, qualifications of the prospective copy editor, breadth and depth of experience, performance on the sample provided, and competitive pricing.

Please submit all documents to Tina Dickenson at cdickens@... (and copy Linda Scott at ldscott@...) by 5pm EST on Wednesday, December 5, 2012.
Your message has been successfully submitted and would be delivered to recipients shortly.
