Copy/layout editor, The Virginian-Pilot, Norfolk
- The Virginian-Pilot's Day Desk is seeking a copy and layout editor who will copy edit stories that appear in The Virginian-Pilot's feature sections and the tab sections (community news). This person also will lay out some pages, other than section fronts, and write headlines, captions, double edits and other graphic elements. This person will proof and correct pages, design Inside Business as part of a rotation, edit online copy, post stories and photos online, and occasionally help produce editorial pages.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Five (5) years of editing and layout experience on a daily newspaper or magazine copy desk.
Demonstrated design skills that go beyond basic layout, including creating and working with cut-out images and other visual devices, and writing creative display type that helps readers understand a story.
