Copy Editor/ Ghostwriter, Dawson and Dawson, West Los Angeles
- Copy Editor/ Ghostwriter Position in West LA area. (Telecommuting OK.)
Reports To: VP of Content
The Editor position will share responsibility with the VP of Content for the quality, relevance and timeliness of the content our organization produces based on the research, thought leadership and field experiences of our consulting organization and Research Institute.
Manage and edit (and sometimes write or ghostwrite) the daily voices of the company in blogs, critical emails, and marketing communications
Manage external vendors including transcription services, graphics vendors and contract writers
Develop and provide briefs and mid-course correction for individuals and organizations working with us as we direct research projects, articles, books and a wide variety of content
Manage internal and external writers to produce high-quality content on time and under budget
Manage the editing/publishing team and their process including:
Keep contributors on time
Keeping stats on readership
Respond to requests of the owner's writing including endorsement of books, contributions to blogs, etc.
Make contributions to the ongoing research and IP development of <Company> particularly in the realm of behavioral re-engineering
Successful Candidate Requirements:
The successful candidate needs to turn content drafted by the company's subject matter experts into clear, compelling copy that motivates senior business executives to take action. Sometimes content will begin with interview transcripts of business relationship experts that must be turned into stories that inspire followers of the owner.
As a writer, the ideal candidate will be responsible for pulling material from subject matter experts in order to create content across a wide range of media including:
professional relationship blogs
thought-leadership white papers
major business publication articles
writing done for a C-level audience (particularly ghosted email and speeches)
As an editor, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
Ability to work with a wide-range of writers of varying abilities while producing consistently excellent quality of content
Ability to discuss a work in progress with extremely talented writers and provide useful guidance that results in a better end product
Knowledge of the management of culture change.
Knowledge of human behavior theory and relationship sciences
Other useful experience includes: publication of stories about the management of culture change in large organizations and emails ghost-written for a C-Level business audience. Ability to adopt different writing voices a must, demonstrated ability to ghost in the style of a well-known writer a plus.
We will not pay relocation expenses, but will consider the right remote candidate available for occasional travel to headquarters.
5-7 years of editing experience in corporate and publishing environments experience with a focus on business content for printed and online venues.
NOTE: Ghostwriting experience is a must.
