The Bulletin, a 34,000-circulation daily newspaper in Central Oregon, seeks copy desk candidates for news, features and sports.
Copy desk candidates should be able to assemble visually appealing and smart-reading pages in a paginated, deadline-oriented environment. Successful candidates will write story-telling headlines, ask the right questions and make sound news decisions. The ideal applicant is a big-picture thinker with impeccable news judgment and good time-management and leadership skills. News, sports and features copy editor/designers will be considered, and the ability to slot is a bonus. Slots must improve headlines, challenge copy and mentor junior editors in design, news-thinking and editing.
At least five years experience is preferred, a bachelor's degree is required, and knowledge of DTI, InDesign, PhotoShop and Illustrator are advantageous. Candidates must be willing to work nights and weekends.
