The assistant news editor will manage the early news-production shift, which has primary responsibility for Features and Travel sections and edits copy and graphics for Business and other news sections and pages as needed. He or she will work closely with assigning editors, graphics desk and the photo department while directly supervising copy and copy-production editors. A minimum of 5 years daily newspaper editorial experience, with some time in a supervisory or managerial role required. Ability to identify problems, develop solutions and implement an effective course of action. Strong communication skills (written and verbal); Strong organizational skills; Team-building and people management skills; Advanced editorial skills required. Must be customer and market focused, results driven, and decisive. Days/Hours: Varied work schedule.
